&lt;p&gt;Yoga has been practiced from more than 5,000 years, and most recently  gained in immense popularity in the U.S. Yoga is taught in many  different styles including vinyasa or vinyasa flow a practice connecting  your breath with synchronized movement, Astanga or power yoga a  fast-paced intense style of yoga with a set series of postures done in  the same order. Iyengar a practice focusing on the alignment of the body  through postures (asanas). As well as the recently popular Bikram or  hot yoga, a practice in a heated room often around 105 degrees with 60  percent humidity. Other styles include, kundalini, viniyoga, anusara,  kripalu, hatha and so many more.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;While there are various types of practices the health benefits of a  regular practice are all most all the same. Most practices help you gain  flexibility through a series of postures or asanas that stretch your  muscles. Through these stretches your body releases the build up of  lactic acid and helps with pain management, tension, fatigue, and  stiffness. In addition to helping to stretch your muscles, yoga also  helps to stretch the soft tissue in your body including tendons, and  ligaments. Many postures practiced in Vinyasa type yoga or flow like  sequence can even help to build strength and balance. Standing postures  when held for many long breaths help to build strength in your quads,  gluts, hamstrings, and abs. While down dogs, up dogs, and chair pose  help you gain strength in your arms, toning your biceps and triceps.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;With regular practice, gained flexibility, and strength you will also  gain better posture and have a stronger more stable core. While yoga  does have many physical benefits for your body it has many mental  benefits as well, including de-stressing and relaxing.Through the  practice of yogic breathing, which utilizes the entire diaphragm to take  full inhales and exhales your body stimulates its relaxation response.  Helping you to calm down and find a peaceful place within your mind and  body. This breathing can also be used to focus our minds away from our  busy thoughts and bring us back into the present moment to help us  concentrate and prioritize. Allowing your mind to prioritize the  important things first, and listen to what your body needs can help you   recenter yourself and get you ready to take on your day. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;With every practice your body experiences many biochemical responses  as well, that  include a decrease in catecholamine, a stress producing  hormone found  in the adrenal glands. To reducing the amount of  dopamine,  norepinephrine, and epinephrine which allows your body to  feel a sense  of calm. This calm when in practice and following gives  you the infamous &amp;#8220;yoga buzz.&amp;#8221; With all the great benefits of yoga, why  wouldn&amp;#8217;t you get on a mat and get flowing, you&amp;#8217;ll be one step closer to a  healthier and happier you! &lt;/p&gt;
